白立方巴黎正在举行由杰瑞·斯塔福德（Jerry Stafford）策划的群展“Rara Avis”（拉丁语意为：罕见的鸟类），汇聚了一系列以鸟为主题的古董、工艺品以及当代艺术作品。展览的这一标题既暗示了发现某种珍奇之物的美妙，同时又透露出失去与哀痛之伤。

策展人对鸟类学的长期痴迷深深根植于他的个人叙事中：鸟是一种从抑郁中逃离的个体象征，同时伊卡洛斯（因飞得离太阳过近而被烧焦翅膀落入了海里）和伽倪墨得斯（他因受宙斯喜爱，被巨鹰掳走至奥林匹斯山上为诸神斟酒）的神话故事也点缀着斯塔福德青少年时期的梦与幻想。

斯塔福德表示：“鸟类是表演艺术家，是可变形的生物，是全球大使，是不同世界之间的信使；鸟类也是音乐大师和生物奇迹，它们短暂一瞬间或躲避式的存在及带来的意义，不仅强调了日常生活的意义也突显了我们潜意识的漫游。”
